Part of KFCB’s mission is to promote recycling in Franklin County. KFCB provides information to people who want to know about recycling and where to take recyclables.

Athletic Shoe Recycling

Keep Franklin County Beautiful is participating with the National Recycling Coalition (NRC) and Nike in the Nike Reuse-A-Shoe program. The program, which recycles and grinds athletic footwear and turns them into sports surfaces, enables each participating organization to collect more 5,000 pairs of recycled athletic footwear within a year.

Recycling Guidelines

Any athletic shoe brand is acceptable
No metal (i.e. cleats or eyelets)
Not in plastic or paper bags and shoe laces not tied together
Sport sandals and casual shoes are not acceptable
No muddy or wet shoes accepted

Inkjet and Toner Cartridge Recycling

KFCB has an inkjet and toner cartridge recycling program administered by SmartRecycle, a local recycler of the cartridges. The program is free to participants and KFCB receives a portion of the proceeds to expand our educational programs and outreach in the community.
